3 days in Capadoccia : suggestions ?

In late April we arrive in Goreme. We have three full days. We would like to see as much as we can but at a leisurely pace. No hikes as we are seniors.

On at least one day or part of two days, we would consider hiring a guide or car and driver.

Suggestions about itineraries or guides or half day tours would be much appreciated.

Contact, [email protected], they are a tour company that allows you to decide where you want to go and for how long, they will organise a guide and transport.

We stayed in Urgup, in the Yunak Evleri cave hotel, one of the few original cave hotels going back to the 5th century,(now a 4 star hotel).
We did a half a day walk, through the valley, 1 day in Goreme,
half a day visiting the underground city. But info tours should be able to give you more accurate details.
Hope this helps.

You will definitely want to book a tour/driver if you are not hiking, as that will be the best way to learn about and see the valleys. If you feel up for a mostly level walk (with the exception of the descent), the Ilhara valley was a highlight for me.

In May 2011, we spent 3 days with a guide in Cappadocia. She supplied an airconditioned van with driver, which made for very comfortable sightseeing. Both, the driver and Deniz, were always on time and took us to the sites we wanted to visit as well as to off the beaten path locations for lunch & lookouts.

Being local, she knew everyone and we were often admitted to museums ahead of the line. She impressed us with her thorough knowledge of history, her command of English and her great sense of humor. She is a certified guide. Nobody we hired at other locations came even close to her competence and pleasant personality.

She and her husband, Mustafa, - who is a partner & pilot in Butterfly Hot Air Balloons (Göreme) - made Cappadocia the highlight of our trip.

(BTW, I heard about Deniz from another Fodors trip report & poster's blog. So, thank you all who take the time to give us valuable information on these boards. It made all the difference for us)

The hot air balloon flight with Butterfly was superb - a highlight of our trip to Cappadocia.

We were in Goreme last week for 3 nights, what a great experience. We highly recommend the Goreme Inn Hotel. We hiked 6 hours through the Valley and also saw the Goreme Air Museum. Recommend eating at Ehlikeyf restaurant in Urgup. Take the public bus at 5:15pm from Goreme to Urgup and take a cab back (25TL). We didn't take a balloon ride but got up at 7am to watch them . Awesome.
