3 days between Lyon and Karlsrhue
 

I have 3 days to get from Lyon, France to Karsrhue, Germany. Been to Colmar before but looking at possibilities. Don't think I want to rent a car but could if the wine roads between Lyon and Dijon are worth the time. Could train to Dijon, or Strasbourg. Any ideas?

How about Bern or Basel? No need for a car.

Even on the Burgundy wine road many of the towns have local train service. Beaune would be a nice stop - really old town. Colmar on the Dijon-Strasbourg rail line is a dream town in the Alsace wine region. Could day trip there from Strasbourg, which to me is one of Europe's most overlooked gems!

What do you like to do in Strasbourg? I like to stay in medium price hotels and eat good food. Any rec's?

Thought about Bern, too, but whats to do?

Bern is way off the most direct route Lyon-Strasbourg but is a very nice city - if going this way i'd say go to the Berner Oberland area around Grindelwald or Interlaken, just about 45 mins from Bern.
Dijon also is a swell town.

Been to Berner Oberland - I don't think 3 days is enough for that.
