3 day, 2 night driving itinerary from Bayonne to Paris - suggestions?

Hello everyone, I'm looking for suggestions on a driving itinerary from Bayonne to Paris (May 2014):

Option 1:
Drive via A64 to Sarlat-la-Caneda
Stop in Pau to look around
2 nights in Sarlat or nearby such as La Roque-Gageac
Drive via A20 to Paris (5+ hours)

Option 2:
Drive via A65 to Sarlat, stopping ?
2 nights in Sarlat or nearby such as La Roque-Gageac
Drive via A20 to Paris (5+ hours)

According to Google maps, both these routes take about the same amount of time - 4.5 hours if driving straight through. I'd appreciate some real world feedback on the merits of one route versus the other.

Thanks!

I'd go up the coast and stop in La Rochelle, then Angers and up to Paris. You don't have enough time to make stopping in Sarlat useful at all.

That's a terrific suggestion StCirq - Much more relaxing driving trip for 2 nights than MY idea. Thanks!
