2for1 offers
 

I think I read on the forum that I can get a return ticket on the Southern Rail from Gatwick and the 2for1 offers will be good for the entire time in between. Is that the case?

Not first-hand experience, but I believe Fodorite noe847 has done this before and it worked.

Since you loaded the 7-day Travelcard onto your Oyster, I assume then you bought round-trip tickets on Southern Railway for London/Gatwick and used the Southern Railway ticket as your 2-for-1 "qualifier"?

Yes, we have used the Southern Railway Gatwick-Victoria tickets as 2-for-1 qualifiers all three times we've visited in the past four years. It has saved us, perhaps, $300 over that time. (Plus, the fare is cheaper than the GX and it only takes about 5 minutes longer).

yk -- It's bittersweet good luck. My brother and I inherited a house from my sister and managed to sell it. So DH and I are traveling, trying to make up for lost time.

We loved London so much and I found a great airline deal, that we're coming back the first of March for two weeks to go back to things we didn't see enough of and see some things we missed.

Fortunately, I'm not planning too much. Not like last time, which turned into a couple forced marches. This should be a relaxed trip - and no major TRs. ;-)

I thought you saw everything on your epic trip last fall!

I do hope you will post a TR, even if it's a brief one. It's so valuable and helpful for all of us.

yk -- It was epic, but only two weeks in London. We barely touched the British Museum and didn't even get to the V&amp;A. Or the War Rooms. Or Little Venice. Or the Jewel Tower or the Banqueting House. Or the Maritime Museum. Or . . . wow. We have a lot to do!
