I have a question. Why are you going if you have no idea of when and how to travel to Skye, You have no idea of where to stay, what to see and how to travel once on Skye. Have you bothered to read a travel book or do any research? Would you rather just pay me the money to go in your place and a promise to write a nice report. Oh, on the next to last row on your keyboard are two keys named "Shift". If you hold that key down and then type a letter it will produce an "upper Case" letter. As an Example, Glasgow, not glasgow.

OK - why have you chosen Skye so you must have some ideas. By "planning to travel by bys from glasgow to skye" do you mean by bus?

If so, WHY? A train would be better.

And on Skye itself, if you won't have a car you will have to rely on sporadic bus service and taxis.

"any good cities . . . ?" Skye and western Scotland are not about "cities". There are no cities on or near Skye. Portree is the only town on the isle and it is very small. Ft William is the nearest town of any size and it is quite a distance and not all that nice.

Skye is mostly about scenery - and a few castles/sites. But mainly just glorious scenery.

How about having a look at the Skye website
http://www.skye.co.uk/

It has information about accommodation and visitor attractions.

There's a famous train ride from Glasgow to Mallaig. From Mallaig, there's a ferry to Skye. From Armadale and for travel on the island, you take local buses.

Bus service on Skye can be a bit sketchy. I would only recommend it for those who have a lot of time.
