2016 Euro Itinerary
I leave for my 11-day European adventure in a few days (my first ever!) and I wanted to run things by you. I leave Atlanta, GA on the 8th and land in Dublin, Ireland, flying home from Athens, Greece on the 18th.
Any who, here's my schedule:
Day 1: land in Dublin around 10 am, walk around town, have a pint, etc.
Day 2: off to London, see Westminster, attend the Yarn Festival, see a show, tour the Tower of London, etc.
Day 3: Morning train to Paris. Do Paris in the afternoon, then off to Amsterdam to see Ann Frank Huis and van Gogh museum.
Day 4: Train to Nice, pick up a car, drive along a scenic road for the scenery, end day in Provence with some local champaign.
Day 5: Drive to Barcelona, see cathedral, Vermeer museum, drop car in Madrid.
Day 6: Train to Geneva, tour CERN facility, take it easy in the afternoon.
Day 7: Pick up car, drive to Interlaken, do a hike near Grindelwald.
Day 8: Do the alps some more.
Day 9: Train to Rome, catch a late entry to the Sistern Chapel, see Last Supper, etc.
Day 10: Fly to Athens, see Acropolis, maybe an island if there is time.
Day 11: Fly home!!
Any advice on the best places to stay?

Can you possibly be serious? I think not.
I'm busy today and don't have time to dissect every aspect of your itinerary, though I could, but will just mention that if you don't already have tickets for the Ann Frank Huis, forget it, and last week the lines outside the Van Gogh Museum were 2-3 hours long.

Day 1: April 1 land in Dublin around 10 am, walk around town, have a pint, like this Irish thing so have another and another, fall over a lot
Day 2: April 1 off to London, see Westminster, attend the Yarn Festival, see a show, tour the Tower of London, etc. get in a bit of a knot
Day 3: April 1 Morning train to Paris. Do Paris in the afternoon, then off to Amsterdam to see Ann Frank Huis and van Gogh museum. So confused – what am I smoking?
Day 4: April 1 Train to Nice or nice train to wherever, pick up a car, drive along a scenic road for the scenery and obviously crash car because I wasn't looking at the road. End day in Provence with some local champaign – called the Old Widow. Drunk a lot by their former husbands who generally drove looking at the scenery until ….
Day 5: April 1 Drive to Barcelona, see cathedral – so tasteless awfully gaudy. Vermeer museum – never found it. Drop car in Madrid – where else.
Day 6: April 1 Train to Geneva, tour CERN facility, take it easy in the afternoon after spending too much time going in circles crashing in to things.
Day 7: April 1 Pick up car, drive to Interlaken, do a hike near Grindelwald. At this point I'm frankly wengening it.
Day 8: April 1 Do the alps some more. After thi my trip is all downhill.
Day 9: April 1 Train to Rome, catch a late entry to the Sistern Chapel – not what I expected. Discovered that Sistern is a Chinese knock-off of the real thing. See Last Supper – sorry, this should be eat last supper at end of day 10 preferably in a restaurant offering Milanese dishes..
Day 10: April 1 Fly to Athens, see Acropolis, maybe an island if there is time to look in the right direction.
Day 11: April 1 Fly home!!

This has got to be a joke.
"Day 5: Drive to Barcelona, see cathedral, Vermeer museum, drop car in Madrid."
Driving to Barcelona from Provence (let's say Avignon) takes 4 hours. Driving from Barcelona to Madrid takes 6.5 hours. This is not taking into consideration any traffic on the roads or getting lost.
That's over 10 hours on the road just driving.
