Well, that's not "really nice restaurants," and it won't include wine.

Spend less on your apartment so you can splurge on dinners, museums, the ballet, chocolates...

Anyway, that would be my choice, but everyone has different priorities.

I never wanted really nice restaurants! All I want is a nice, simple, good meal.

I don't mean for that to be rude, but I've never been to Paris before. No need to correct me on "Parisian cuisine".

St.Cirq-we got it. Restaurants in that realm are available. Now we know.
AND, not for St.C.'s benefit, but Lexi needs to start dealing in Euros because it is 1/3 more that dollars. Don't get sucked into a false sense of dollar/security!! It's a BIG difference.
As for cuisine in Paris--it is all over the global map, and you may find an Italian restaurant you love.

That wasn't being rude -- she wasn't correcting you. StCirq was merely explaining there is no 'Parisian cuisine'.

You are stressing yourself out unnecessarily. As I've mentioned up thread - don't fixate on these little $$/€€ details. You have a VERY doable budget. Forget about so much for food, so much for an apartment, so much for trains, yada yada.

You have this big pot of money (and do try to think in €, not $ - otherwise you really won't get a handle on how much you are spending). Book an apartment -- hopefully for a LOT less than what you first mentioned - I've never spent even half that much.

Then you'll know how much you have left for the other items.

muskoka and lois: naw - I don't think so. Lexi is just sort of chasing her tail and having trouble nailing down details but she reads 'real'.

dabunting is still an open question - you are probably right unfortunately.

Well, some research proves dabunting is a troll. Not that. Just, very, very confused.

I don't see this as fake, just confused. Now the person asking about Venice-Florence-Orvieto-Rome-Sorrento in 9 nights with a car is another matter.

tarquin...I had missed that post about the "crazy" Italy trip...and same poster started last fall with one about cruising in Europe including Pizza Italy...honestly for this person if they are for real (doubtful) a cruise would be perfect and I don't know why some posters bashed the idea..just because a cruise might not be your first choice does not mean it is not perfect for someone else. That poster after countless replies never again returned unless it was with a new name and destination.

BTW, 2k is 2000; 2000k is 2,000,000. You could do a lot with 2000k.
