2 weeks trip from USA to edgbaston
 

Hello People,

I am from India and planning to travel to Edgbaston from USA for a day event and then I'll stay for 2 weeks. My girlfriend will be travelling with me and we are wondering what all places we can cover in those 2 weeks. Also, any suggestion on planning the trip is most welcome. London and Paris are must for us. I've never been to UK/France.

There is no way to suggest what places you can "cover" in such a short period of time when we have no idea what attracts you to France, Turkey, and the UK, what sort of budget you have, how you plan to travel, and so forth. They are very disparate places and strung out over a large swath of territory. Sorry, but it's just too broad a question. You need to get out the guideboooks, look at maps, and do internet research to narrow this down, a lot. You could easily spend an entire week in London and another in Paris and barely see the basics, but we don't know what you are interested in.

if you look at some of the commercial tours on offer you will see that they offer whirlwind itineraries that can best be summarised as "if it's Tuesday it must be Belgium". They suit some people but what you are probably looking for [if you've had the common sense to find your way here] is something a little more relaxed where you see more than the inside of a bus.

So apart from a day in Edgbaston [cricket involved perchance? - I'm struggling to think what else might take you there for a day] what else are you interested in? despite the bad press it gets, there is a surprising amount to see in and around Birmingham, not least the wonderful countryside of the Midlands - pretty Warwickshire villages, Stratford, the Cotswolds, the industrial heritage of Shropshire etc.

A trip which started there, then moved to London and finished with a few days in Paris would be a good mix and very doable.

I realized while posting this that without being lil specific it's a very broad/vague question. I am going there to watch cricket match (1 day) and then spend some quality time der for the rest of 2 weeks. I don't want to include everything as its impossible. I am looking forward to spend quality time there with my gf! I am sports freak so I might include Manchester. budget wise I would say around ~10k for both of us. I'll be travelling next year June/July time.

aha - I thought as much. I'm probably telling you something you already know but you should apply for the tickets for the match asap - there is a large population of people who support the indian team living in and near Birmingham and they will go very quickly.

If you were content to spend your time entirely in the UK you could go from B'ham to Manchester [you might catch a football match but unlikely as the season will have finished by then] to the Lake District, then up to Edinburgh and fly back to London.

I don't think that you could easily squeeze Paris into that though.

You could also get to some county games while you are in the UK.
