2 weeks Paris to Switzerland to montegrotto
I am planning 4 weeks for my husband and I. We are mid 70’s and don’t want to rush around or see every sight as we’ve traveled a lot. I need help with my itinerary. We like nice hotels, food markets, a bit of shopping, not walking on cobblestones, farm to table eating etc
fly June 21 to paris 3-4 nights tgv to Lyon 2 nights i wanted to drive to Annecy, montreaux, Lugano and end the trip for a 2 week spa at terme naronanei. I don’t think I can rent a car in Lyon and leave it in Italy? Is this too much running around? Can anyone suggest a better two week itinerary before the spa? Has anyone been to the spa? Suggestions please. |
There is no need to rent a car for the Lyon - Montegrotto leg.
There are excelllent train connections between: Lyon - Annecy (2 hrs) Annecy - Geneva (1 1/2 hrs) Geneva - Montreux (1 hr; can also be done by Lake Geneva boat and will take half a day) Montreux - Locaro or Lugano (at least 5 different itineraries, 4 - 10 hrs, acccording to your preferencies) Locarno - Lugano - Milan (1 1/4 - 2 hrs) Milan Padova (2 hrs) Padova - Terme Euganee Abano-Montegrotto (10 min) As an alternative, you could travel via Annecy - Chamonix - Courmayeur - Aosta - Turin |

Thank you for your response. Is the above a better itinerary? It all seems like a lot of on and off trains. I guess you pack light! |
Just one day in Lyon? There's a LOT to see there.

All depends on your interests "It all seems like a lot of on and off trains" Annecy has direct trains to Geneva, St-Gervais (Mont Blanc), Lyon and Paris. For all other destinations you will have to change trains. In June, Montreux has direct trains to Geneva, Interlaken and Domodossola. For all other destinations you will have to change trains Lugano has direct trains to Basel, Zurich, Locarno, Milan and Padova.. For all other destinations you will have to change trains Chamonix has direct buses to Annecy, Aosta - Turin and Aosta - Milan. Aosta is well worth a visit. Turin has direct trains to Chambery and Padova |
