2 weeks max, what can i do?
Me and my friend definitely want to visit Spain. We were thinking 1 week in Spain and 1 week in another country. Any suggestions? I wanted to see Italy but a week is probably not enough. Note: this is my first time EVER in europe

People would be able to give you better advice if you described the time of year you are going, your flight arrangements, and whether you plan to buy a railpass or not.

That isn't much time, so I would limit the travel time and pick either Portugal or France as a second country. Beyond that, it's hard to tell. I'm going to guess that you don't have a railpass because the train is pretty cheap in Spain and you probably wouldn't need it there (I think, I don't know that much about Spanish rail). So, if you want to keep things relatively cheap, you could stay in southern France, moving along the coast from Barcelona to Marseille or so and fly home from Marseille or Nice.

There are tons of alternative itineraries, you could go to Paris in a short time on the train, for example, and I would guess some cheap airlines fly from Spain to somewhere else, so maybe you could do Italy, if you want.

Two weeks is not that long for a trip, so I would suggest stay in Spain and pick 2 or 3 (4 max.) cities, towns, countryside locations to visit. Especially being your first trip, it is easy to plan an overly ambitious itinerary & you'll end up seeing mostly the insides of taxis, busses, train stations, hotels, and/or airports.

Personally I find the "travel" part of travel (i.e., the time, energy, money it takes to change locations) not particularly enjoyable, and so prefer to stay longer in each place I visit. This way you really can get the feel of it (you might catch a town fair or festival, find the best bakery, or local outdoor farmers market, even get to be a regular at the neighborhood cantina).

Hi,
I also suggest you stay in Spain for the entire 2 weeks. That way you can get a real flavor for the culture and the country. You will thank me for this suggestion.
Have a wonderful trip.
Janda

Try a barge cruise in France. There are several alternatives - Burgundy - Provence, etc. You can read more about them at www.hotelbarges.com.

I just returned this week from Burgundy and had a totally perfect vacation! My friends who went with me and had never been to Europe are already planning another trip next year.
Sorry about that...we will be traveling in late September or early October.

Hi,

I was in Madrid and Barcelona, I suggest Barcelona instead of Madrid, stay for 3 days, then go to Tours(Loire Valley,France), visit the castles, stay for another 3-4 days, then go to Paris, stay the rest of your holidays there and then go back home.
