A lot of lazy tourists on here who have not explored Dublin properly and got underneath the skin of it to reveal what a great place it really is.

For the record, the following are all excellent options:

- Kilmainham Jail;
- Guinness Storehouse;
- St. Stephen's Green;
- A pub crawl around South William Street and the side streets off Grafton Street.

IMO, anybody who thinks sanitised, boring Edinburgh is a better option than Dublin is just plain wrong...

Listing the main tourist spots is hardly getting under the skin of Dublin, might as well say get lashed in Temple Bar. There are a lot of options in Dublin and Edinburgh which require looking for..

Hi Bas,

I was very pleased to read your trip report about the volcano gods, as I have arranged to stay at 14 Hart St when my Lady Wife and I visit Edinburgh this Fall.

Thanks for the review.

Hi Ira,

I hope you enjoy 14 Hart as much as we did. Please say hello to James and Angela for us - they are wonderful hosts with a font of knowledge about the city and its history. If there is a Ceilidh going on nearby, be sure to go for awhile, you will not regret the experience. Also, try the vegetarian haggis at the nearby Urban Angel. It is very good (does not taste at all like real haggis). Above all, have a great time!

BTW, when you get to 14 Hart, there is no outward indication that it is a B&B, just the house number. You will walk down a few steps to the entrance. The upper floors are private apartments.
