2 weeks in Prague and Croatia. Tips for transportation and itinerary
Hi
My friend and I will be landing in Prague on Aug 21st noon, and flying out of Sarajevo on September 4th.
Current plan is
Prague - 2.5 days
Lake Bled - 1 day
Plitvice - 1 day minimum
Dubrovnik - 3 days
Mostar - 1 day
Sarajevo 2 days.
Wanted input on
1. Transportation (looks like Prague to Bled seems tough by train) should we rent a car at end of Prague trip and keep till Dubrovnik or Sarajevo (prices look almost the same w/ auto europe and is ~$320 till Sarajevo and $200 to Dubrovnik, not sure if the 150Euro fee applies assume it does and would be additional), or are trains/buses better and flights if needed (I do like driving and have driven in France, England etc).
2. Suggestions on itinerary, any edits/suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
Shri

Since you like enjoy, go ahead and just rent a car. You'll have more flexibility with a car than with a train. Personally, I like driving because then you get exposed to all sorts of music you'd never hear back home.

I checked w/ Auto Europe and it appears the drop off fee will be 700Euros which is way more than I expected.
Unless can get a car option with less of a drop off fee, car appears unlikely.

Like yorkshire, I think your itinerary a bit rushed, especially the first part. If you are fully committed to trying to see all of these places, you might consider cutting a day from Dubrovnik and adding it to Lake Bled/Ljubljana.
I would expect the drop-off fee on a rental to be outrageously high and think you would do better off with public transportation.

I don't know how they even get cars in a different country back to the home country, maybe they have to hire a driver, so of course that is super expensive. It's not like in the US where a car is legal in another state. It's a completely different country and the car isn't registered nor licensed in that country. I wonder if it may even be illegal for a rental company to rent out cars that aren't registered in the country of the business. I don't know, but it just doesn't surprise me at all. I imagine it would cost you a lot to rent a car in the US and leave it in Canada, also.
