2 Weeks in Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands

My friend and I are planning a trip to Ireland and would like to go to Scotland and Amsterdam as well. We have no idea where to even start. We don't want to go with a travel group, but we want to see as much as we can if the 2 weeks we're there. We don't know where to fly in, where to go from there, or well, pretty much anything you'd need to know for this trip So I'm starting here... Any help would Greatly be appreciated!!
Thanks!!!

This seems a strange mix. These 3 countries demand your full attention; 2 weeks is too short a time and you'd be rushing around and getting nowhere. I'd focus on one and enjoy it more. Ireland seems to be your main destination so go there.

Where are you flying from? Well, first of make sure you get open-jaw plane tickets, into Ireland, out of Amsterdam. With only 2 weeks you can't afford the time to backtrack.

So you could fly from Ireland to Edinburgh (the best place in Scotland for a first-timer) and from Edinburgh to Amsterdam. Look at websites like www.whichbudget.com or www.skyscanner.net to find out what airlines fly these routes. For example, Easyjet flies Edinburgh to Amsterdam, fares starting at $71.

As dobbo indicates, this isn't much time for 3 different countries. And after a long-overnight flight, it takes a couple days to get over jetlag. So allow extra time for that in Ireland.

You haven't said why you are going or what you are interested in. Get a copy of Lonely Planet's Europe on a Shoestring. Get some maps. Study.

thanks for the replies... 3 years later. we went in may '12... flew into London (2 days).. then to Dublin (3 days).. then Edinburgh (4 days).. and did backtrack to London for a couple more days. amazing trip. so we did everything y'all told us not to, and maybe didn't do as much as we wanted - especially in Edinburgh (by far my favorite) but it was incredible.. PERFECT.. it makes me sad to think about even now bc I miss it so much!! wish I had the money to travel...

Not to Quibble -- BUT, it would seem that you DID follow the advice given --
Your ORIGINAL plan was to visit Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands -- INSTEAD, you visited London, Dublin and Edinburgh.
Three CITIES, rather than three COUNTRIES.

Glad you had a good time. Those are each different and remarkable destinations.
