2 week itinery
Hi My wife and I are taking our 10 year old daughter to Europe for her first time next March for 15 nights. We would like to start in Paris and end in Rome or vice versa. We will probably skip England. Also-we would rather take trains or fly as opposed to driving-we also are fully capable and willing to do plenty of walking. Any suggestions with the goal to give her meaningful memories less the stress of pushing too hard? While some museums would be fine we want to keep it light. Thanks very much!

I took my kids to Paris, Switzerland and Germany last summer. They were 11 and 9. Take a look at our blog and scroll back toward Paris to get an idea. I also did a trip report on this site if you click on my profile.
http://wanderwegkids.blogspot.com/?m=1 We stayed in only 3 areas to minimize the travel time. We also chose 1 major activity per day to allow for leisurely mornings and time to relax later in the day and go for gelato or other desserts. |
Oh and the only museum we did was the Louvre. And only for about 3 hours. We chose 2 pieces of art for each person prior to the trip. Then each person wrote a story about that art object and sealed the envelope until the day we went to the Louvre. Then they would open the envelope and read the story in front of the art. It got the kids very engaged and excited.
We did the Catacombs in Paris Climbed the bell tower of Norte Dame Day trip to Chateau de Chantilly to see the horses Eiffel Tower of course Lots of hiking in the Bernese Oberland Trotti bikes in Grindelwald Playground at Bort near Grindelwald Pfingstegg toboggan ride Speed boat rental on Lake Brienz Neuschwanstein castle near Munich Have fun!! |
thanks-sounds like a great trip
