2 week itinerary - feedback & help please
Hello all,
I am planning this in a hurry, could definitely use some help as this is our first trip to this part of Europe and the first one during Covid times. 3 nights in Lisbon (Alfama, Sintra, Belem), rent a car on Day 4 5 nights in Algarve (any suggestions here? should we split up between East and West? Looking at Carvoeiro as an option) 4 nights in Seville (Day trip to Cordoba) 1 night in Evora (see Monsaraz on the way) 1 night in Lisbon (early flight the next day), return car in Lisbon a) Would you recommend driving in Spain? Likely not much other than getting in and out of Seville, planning to take the train to Cordoba. We preferred this over going back North in Portugal towards Porto. There doesn't seem to be a good transit option to go from Seville to Lisbon. Getting on a flight might require another Covid test. b) I would be transiting through Germany for outbound travel. Do I need to take a Covid test before getting on that flight (US citizen with Covid shots + booster)? Not sure if it will be feasible to do that in Evora (the day before our flight). |
I would pick a more centrally located in the Algarve as a single base; perhaps Albufeira or Loulé, especially the latter if you rent an apartment and like to cook as it has a large easily accessible market.

Thank you Michael!

Looking to cut down Seville to 3 nights to add another night to Evora.

Does anyone know if Covid test is required for land crossing between Portugal and Spain? The Portugal immigration site says so (can't link it as I am still below 10 posts). Wondering if it's checked at all.

Put all your nights in Lisbon together. Probably at the end to ensure a comfortable flight out.

I didn't want to start driving when jetlagged. Also explored renting a car in Faro and dropping off in Lisbon. There is not a big enough car available for doing that (5 passengers and bags) with that option, using the car company that I get pretty decent rates/coverage through work.
