2 nights Wed. Annv. Thun/Bern area?
Got two nights to spend before heading back to Zurich for home...Want quaint but a little shopping and restaurants...was looking at the Krone hotel in Thun?
Let me say thanks to all of you for this help..almost impossible to do without you! |
Hi johnb,
Would definitely choose Thun on its lake. Quaint, yes, with its castle and arcaded, elevated shopping street, but also glorious with the mountains in the distance. Definitely T. Have fun! s |
thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thun is lovely - take a boat ride, they serve drinks and snacks and the views are awesome!
But Thun is quite small. For your more serious shopping pleasure take the train (takes 19 minutes) to Bern where the historic old town (but fully modern and functional as a business city) is right outside the train station. The streets are lined with arcades, the main streets are car-free, the shops are plentyful and strolling up and down the arcades is a favorite activity of the locals; the term is "lädele" for shopping and "löibele" for strolling the arcades, so go lädele while you practice löibele... |
thanks!!
