2 nights in Florence/2 in Montalcino??

If yes, any reviews on Castello di Velona? Is Montalcino a good place to see the countryside?

Hello C,

I would definitely stay 2 nights in Montalcino. I stayed 3 nights in Sept at Hotel Giglio and loved the town. Easy short drives to Pienza, Montepulciano, Monte Oliveto, Sant' Antimo. Very beautiful scenery and awesome wine.

Buon viaggio!

we loved montalcino. Great restaurants and we found an adorable B and B with charming hosts. He was born in Montalcino and lived in the states before he returned to marry Lucilla. The link is:

Dont pass up dinner at Grappolo Blue just down the street. One of our best meals in Tuscany.

Hi My husband and I stayed at castello di velona in oct 2004. It was beautiful. It is about 15-20 minutes to montalcino but its actually in a fairly central area for touring tuscany. I would definitely recommend it.
