2 night stopover in Iceland advice

Hi,

My tentative plan for a trip in early September is to fly NY to Munich on Iceland Air with a stopover in Iceland on the return trip for 2 nights. My time for Iceland would be arrive from Munich at 6:30 am and have that day. Full day. Flight home to NY at 5pm on the 3rd day.

Thinking of Reykjavik first day.
Golden Circle Tour on our full day.
? On my last partial day.

Thanks for any advice you have.

I should mention that the Blue Lagoon holds no interest for me. Nor does hiking, horseback riding, etc. I am handicapped, so most of these are out for me. I would like to see the Puffins or some wildlife / birds.

What about a whale watching tour? On the whale watching tour, most also are looking to spot seabirds, and many whale watching tours have year round offerings.

Most of the puffin watching group tours end their season on August 20th: for the two main areas with puffin populations, the puffins typically migrate between mid August - early September.

Thank you for the suggestion. We will not have a car for this short stay, so hopefully we can stay somewhere central in Reykjavik.

Sorry for the name confusion, CQ is my wife and I posted under her user name. Happens often, as I'm not thinking.

If your flight home is 5pm presumably you would need to be at the airport at 3pm? It takes just under an hour to get to the airport at Keflavik from Reykjavik by bus, so you would need to leave at 2pm..I´m afraid that does not give you much time ..but as has been suggested the Whale Watching does operate out of Reykjavik harbour so that could be an option?
