2 night stay???
 

Which town would you stay 2 nights in on our auto drive from Milan, Italy to Füssen, Germany:
Stresa, Italy or Locarno, Switzerland?

What time of year?

Who/how many are you and what are your interests?

We loved Stresa - as a relaxing couple of day start to a road trip through Switz and to Paris.

We are 4 adults travelling on to Fussen, Germany, the Dolomites then 4 days in Venice, 7 days in Tuscany & 4 in Rome; just want to see the lake district again (been to Lake Como twice before); and relax after a long flight. Stresa is closer to Milan but Locarno is closer to Fussen?

This would be next September/October/16...also adding a 3rd town to stop in: Lugano, Italy; which of the 3 would you recommend?

How about St Gallen? Though not by lakeside.

Just left Locarno on the 2nd of September after a 2-night stay. It is a delightful place. Try to stay lakeside if you can. The walk along the lake is really nice. We like La Palma Au Lac, which is a Ramada hotel. It is easy walking distance to shopping (piazza grande area) and many restaurants.
