2 hours free in Venice.

I am in the bus to Venice. I have 2 hours before we meet at a restaurant.
Where should I go ? (I plan on getting lost in the city but if you have a place you like).
Mvg

Venetian Arsenal, not far from St Mark square. I don't see many tourist go there. Stroll a long the waterbord near St Mark square, you'll see that arsenal, the Bridge of Sighs, many other things, and a wonderful sunset I hope (but maybe the hour is too late now).

Of course St Mark square itself can easily occupy 2h but I believe you meant to ask more than that.

The Oriental Museum in C'e Pesaro, the International Museum of Contemporary art. The Oriental Museum is housed on the top floors of the museum (which, BTW, is stunning) and has the most amazing collection of (mostly) Japanese warfare artifacts datinf back to the 17th century (laquered saddles, stirrups, swords and sabres, armor - none of it anything like anything you've seen before). We were mesmerized for at least a couple of hours.

I didn't know you're interested in weapons, StCirq!

But I am, and it's a pity I didn't go there when I was in Venice.

You need to schedule 2 hours in Venice? Um, just walk around.

It is probably too late now, WoinVenice, but I found the Maratime Museum fascinating. My Wife had to literally come drag me out of there or we would have missed our train. If I had known about that Japanees weapons collection, St. Cirq, I might still be in Venice.

I'm not particularly interested in weapons, FurryFluffy (though I get a kick out of all the halberds and armor and stuff we have in castles around here), but this stuff was just astonishing! Never seen anything like it. The level of detail was astonishing, as well as the variety of materials used. I forget the man's name, but sometime around 1800, I think, a wealthy Venetian took a trip around the world and brought back 30,000 artifacts from all over Asia (mostly Japan, but also China and Malaysia), and I think most if not all of them are in Ca' Paseo. My husband lived in Asia for 14 years and said he'd never seen anything comparable.

Like so many things in Venice we were lost and just stumbled upon it.
