Bath Spa open yet?

I check their website every few weeks but there's no recent news on the opening of the Bath Spa. The last update was about a month ago. Has anybody gotten a fix on a date? Any on-the-scene reports, so to speak?

No, I don't think even the operators know exactly when it's going to open yet. Probably in the next couple of months but they keep putting it back and back and back. The building in Bath is pretty much finished, they're just ironing out faults and doing internal decoration.

Still wondering if it's open yet. No news from their website. Anyone been there?

No, it's still not open...
They've had lots of problems with the paint on the inside of the pool peeling off and the builders and architects denying responsibility for the problems. They've supposedly analysed what the original problem was and are beginning to fix it but as yet no definate times have been announced.

When you say "Bath spa" are you referring to the Roman baths in the city of Bath? I'll be in England in April and was planning to visit Bath, I didn't know there was remodeling/closing going on. Could you post the web address of the site with the updates so I can check too? Thanks!

What? I went to the Roman Baths less than a month ago...no problems. Are you all talking about something else?

Not to worry, the Roman baths are running as normal. "The BAth Spa" question refers to a much hyped hotel/spa that was to open last year but has been plagued by construction delays. The hotel had employed top notch PR people who had mentions of the spa placed in "all" the right places (maganizes, newspapers) as if it was up and running. Rather funny in my opinion!

I work in Bath, and I have no idea when it's opening. It does look like a very smart building, though, although not really in keeping with the Georgian and Roman architecture. Might be worth keeping an eye on the local BBC web site for updates - http://www.bbc.co.uk/somerset/news/

Are there other spas in the city of Bath or is the Thermae Spa the only one? If so, do you have any recommendations?

That's the only when - when it eventually opens.

The latest forecast is for an autumn opening. I wouldn't put my money on it ...
