2 Girls Enjoy the Heck out of Ireland for 3 Wonderful Weeks: A Trip Report
#61
A Counting Crows fan! I knew there was something I liked about you!! Anyway, your report is nothing short of fabulous. I hope you're going to print it out as a wonderful diary of this special trip.
It's also very nice to see that best friends can travel together and remain best friends. As you probably know, it doesn't always work that way. During a summer in high school, my best friend and I took a lengthy trip together and we were never friends again. But I learned some very valuable lessons about travelling companions and what to look for. When I was 23, I tried again and spent 10 weeks with my best friend from college travelling thruout UK, Ireland, the rest of Europe, Athens and Cairo. It was my first trip abroad. We had 40 lb packpacks, tennis rackets, he brought a guitar he was learning to play (LOL!), Eurail passes, hostel cards, and a can-do attitude. We obviously weren't the smartest packers but when you're young and carefree, it doesn't matter. Those were arguably the best 10 weeks of my life. What a journey that was. Thank goodness this forum didn't exist back then. I can't imagine doing that trip report, altho there were plenty of wonderful stories. And we're still best friends. I'm so glad it worked out for you.

Absolutely lovely trip report, sweetbippity! Thank you so much for sharing your love for Ireland and your love of life. Never lose that attitude, please!
And you really know you have a "best friend" when you travel well together.

SB - as all others have said, your report is great and a fun read. I've had to minimize the screen several times while at work because I couldn't stop reading.
I'm off to Ireland in March with one of my very best friends, with whom I have traveled before, and you and J sound like us. I hope we have at least half as good a time as you, as we're probably close to twice your age... =o)
You write very well and your report has made me even more excited to go. Thanks for sharing it. And, yes, I sent my friend the link so she can enjoy it as well. Take care!

Great report, sweetbippity! It sounds like you got the spirit of Ireland - a wonderful thing to have. I just went on my third trip to the Emerald Isle this summer. It is truly addicting!!!! If you want to catch my trip report, check out my name or my website at www.greendragonartist.com (go to the For Love of Celts section for travel reports and pics)

Well how fun was that?! Sorry to see it end like everyone else, obviously we all loved travelling vicariously with you. I'm sure you're already beginning to plan when you'll return. I'm never bummed when one trip ends because there's always the next one to start planning for! Thanks for a very insightful and delightful trip report.

Thanks for your very enjoyable trip report. I am leaving on Wednesday to go home again. I go once or twice a year and never get tired of it. I will be going alone again this year and I really like being able to do what I want whenever I want to. Although I do love showing people the places that I love. My best friend, who was born in Belfast and is my SIL, is afraid to fly so hasn't been home since 1986. She has just had her second cancer surgery and I am trying to talk her into coming with me next year if all is fine healthwise with her. Glad to hear you are still best friends!

Thanks very much to everyone who posted some kinds words both during and after my report - they were much appreciated!
I'm STILL going through withdrawal...but I finally got my photos up, if anyone is interested. I'm not much of a photographer, and neither is J, but the photos tell the story of our trip pretty well, I think.
Hope this works!
