2 Days VS. 3 Days in Rome
 

My wife and I are having a scheduling dilemma. Having never been to Rome, we know we want to see the Vatican and Ancient Rome experiences. If you add the Pantheon, Spanish Steps and Trevi - can we do this on two week days plus an evening OR does this need three full days? Thanks for assistance. <BR>

My husband and I did do Rome in 2 1/2 days. The first days was a walking tour on our own: Started in the Campo di Fiori, to Piazza Navona, to the Trevi Fountain, the pantheon, down to the Victor Emanual II monument; Then we headed and went inside the colosseum. Since we had seen the Roman forum (you should go there) we headed to the Baths of Caracala. Headed home via the ghetto. This was one day. The next day, we walked the same route to the Spanish Steps, then walked to the Vatican (you can metro to get there faster). We went inside the Vatican and up to the top of the cupula. The front of the building is under scaffolding. We had been through the museums and sistine chapel, so we skipped it this time. The views from the top is great. Finished late afternoon where we walked back "home" to the Campo di Fiori stopping for ice cream and drinks. These two days were FULL days of walking and sight seeing, but yes, it can be done in 2 days. IF however, you plan to visit any museums, then you may need 3. Rome is a lovely place to walk all around.

Hi, You could spend 30 days in Rome!! It really just depends on how fast you move and what you want to see. I think the Vatican is one entire day, the historic areas such as the Forum is another, and then I would like a day for walking and observing the normal everyday Rome------my advice would be 3 days, but I would prefer the 30!! Have a great trip. <BR>

I agree with the above advice....spend as MUCH time in Rome as possible! It's an amazing city with so much to see. I spent four days there and didn't get to do everything I wanted to.

Are you familiar with this hotel? Plus, could you please describe the neighborhood in a little more detail. Thank you. <BR>

We've been to Rome twice. I loved it. We had considered staying at the Campo DeFiore, but decided after looking at the map that it was somewhat removed from the subway so we elected to stay nearer in the Spanish Steps because we were mostly on foot. <BR>I've read only good comments in the guide books about the Campo DeFiore Hotel. You probably cannot go wrong either way. Have a great time.
