hi there,
Wiesbaden is not a hit and I do declare I dont know too much about it. Perhaps there isnt (Miriam help!). But Wiesbaden is not so far from Mainz ( just across the Rhine), where You could spend a few nice hours walking the old town and perhaps take look at the Gutenberg museum. Also not far is Bingen (Rhine cruise and castles) and Frankfurt (Museums and Sachsenhausen for a "Applewine).
have fun
Gar

You can tour a real knight's castle by taking the train north along the east bank of the Rhine from Wiesbaden to Braubach. The very rustic Marksburg Castle, on a hill overlooking Braubach, was never destroyed and is open all year for tours.

www.roadstoruins.com/marksburg.htm

Great views of other castles along the way, too. After your tour, train or catch a K-D tour boat to Koblenz for a walk-around and a meal, then head home to Wiesbaden via the west bank of the Rhine and Mainz for a different view of the river and its charms.

Hi Chris,

I recommend going to Rudesheim (sp?). It is a very nice town on the Rhein. I didn't go during tourist season, I have heard it is a bit busy then. From there you could catch a KD boat to one of the other towns along the Rhine, such as St-Goar. Even if you just stay on the boat you will see many castles and have a nice time. Boppard (I believe) has a chairlift so you can see the "bendiest bend" of the Rhine river. I would absolutely not go to Bingen. It is not a quaint pretty town and much more industrialized/commericalized than an of the other towns I saw on the Rhine. After stopping in Bingen on our trip, my friend and I refer to any crappy place we come to in the midst of really nice places as "the Bingen" of that area.

The Nassauer Hof Hotel in Wiesbaden comes highly recommended. If you look at their website, it looks quite nice. http://www.nassauer-hof.de/e_Nassaue...otel/hotel.htm

I'm looking for a decent budget hotel in Wiesbaden -- the equivalent of a good Paris two star. I can deal with "loo-down-the-hall" is the hotel is clean and the location is central to the sights.
