2 days in Nice
Hi,
I will be in Nice Friday the 24th until Sunday the 26th by myself as I had a weekend between meetings and was wondering if I could get some suggestions on the following as I have never been to Nice: Beaches to visit? Bars and Clubs? Resturants? I will be staying at the Mercure Nice Grimaldi and was wondering what is around the hotel as well? Thanks, Jim |
The beach at Nice is pebbly, but otherwise fine. (Not a problem if you have waterproof sandals or beach shoes.) If you want a sandy beach, take a very short train ride to Antibes.

Head over to the Cours Saléya, part of Old Nice, which is ringed by bars and restaurants. One we especially liked is the modern Italian La Voglia, worth seeing just for the architecture--but the food is also terrific, and the portions quite large. You can walk the food off by strolling through the winding, narrow streets of the old town.
In Vieux Nice itself, head to L'Ecurie, 4 rue du Marché, a casual restaurant that turns out excellent Niçois, Italian, and standard French dishes. |
Thank you fo rthe replies.

There's lots to see in Nice, but there are also some nice daytrips using public transportation: buses and trains. Depends on what you're interested in: art, history, scenery, hiking/walking, etc.
