2 days in Bologna
 

What experiences have you all had in Bologna, both good and bad? Thanks already.

We spent 2 days in Bologna in March and loved it. It's a beautiful city, and seemed to have fewer tourists than Venice, Florence, etc. The food was phenomenal, especially the pasta. We stayed at Albergo Drapperie (www.albergodrapperie.com/), a little 21-room place in a great location, right near the main square and the main sights. We were charmed by Bologna and would definitely go back.

This is kind of general, I know, but I hope it helps! If you have specific questions I might be able to answer, feel free to post 'em.

Thank you for your feedback. We have 2 tours set up. One is a walking tour of the gourmet food district and another is a tour of the Ferrari museum (I have a 21 year old son). I wondered interesting experiences, nightlife etc. Thanks already.

The gourmet food district tour sounds fun. I wish we had known of it when we were there two weeks ago.

We,too, thought Bologna was a pretty city, and an interesting place to walk and explore.

Looking forward to your report on the gourmet tour. We will be in Bologna first few days of July...may sign up for same depending on your review. We leave for Italy on June 23 - - will you be reporting back before then?

You'll love Bologna. It's a great city for "just walking around." Also, there's a small, but outstanding Etruscan museum that is definitely worth your time. And, definitely, just sit in an outdoor cafe in Piazza Maggiore (one of Italy's gems) and enjoy the experience.
And finally, the shopping--pricewise and variety of selections--is a definitely plus in Bologna.

I will be glad to give a review of the Bologna food tour. We will return June 5th so I'll post it then. Thanks everyone for the ideas!!
