Why are you going to the inconveniently distant Piazzale Michaelangelo, which is a parking lot and a lookout?
Or if you are going there, why are you not visiting San Miniato Al Monte, a medieval jewel? I would drop the Pitti Palace, which I find depressing despite the great paintings. It has a lugubrious Victorian quality, a remnant perhaps of renos undertaken by the dreary royal family when Florence was the capital of newly united Italy. |
If your partner is interested in shoes, the Salvatore Ferragamo museum could be a break from art overload (though his shoes are works of art in themselves)> The museum is at Via Tornabuoni 2 & opening hours are 9-1 & 2-6 Weekdays

Thanks for the recommendations! tedgale, we are going to Piazzale Michelangelo for the lookout, but we'll add on San Miniato Al Monte since it's only a few minute walk uphill. Thanks!
This is what our itinerary looks like. In a way it goes from the order of importance, but we are almost 80% likely to skip the Boboli Gardens because we definitely won't have time to cover it, and will have limited time to see it without having to rush the places before it. - Duomo - Basilica di Santa Croce (6 Euros) - Last Supper & Tree of Life - Santa Maria Novella - Boboli Gardens (might remove) - Piazzale Michelangelo - San Miniato del Monte - Moba Villa Bardini - aperitivo - Ponte Vecchio We would have loved to see the Costume Gallery, but maybe if we had an extra day we could cover Boboli, Costume Gallery, etc. I see a lot of positive reviews, but a lot that say it's badly maintained. |
Thanks trotsky! Both of us love fashion, so we might consider that if we definitely remove Boboli Gardens from the list and have time after SMN.

The Ferragamo museum is fascinating. I never thought I'd enjoy a shoe museum but the combo of Hollywood celebs and great craftsmanship made it a winner.

oh, don't bother with the Boboli - it's badly maintained and signed and if it had any charm lost it a long time ago. The Giardino Bardini and /or the Rose garden [in season] are much nicer.
