2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment near the Marais - Paris

Jump to last reply

Knowing that 2 bed/bath apartments are not all that common I thiought it would be worthwhile to post comments on the aparatment we rented this past week at 50 rue Rambetau. The rental is via www.50rr.com and I believe they have a home away / VRBO listing as well.

1. Location - apartment is on the french 6th floor over looking the plaza at Pompidou Center. An excellent location very close to the Rambetau METRO stop and a short walk to Chatelet as well as Hotel de Ville. Downside to the loaction is that it is on the plaza, a great view but often busy through the night... too noisy for a light sleeper,

2. View - yes there is a view of the Eifel Tower but from the balcony only... not from inside the apartment. the heith and open plaza makes the overall view very pleasent.

3. Bedrooms - are both comfortable with good firm beds. The twins in the second bedroom can, on request, be brought together as a double,

4. Bathrooms - both newly remodled and fully functional. Problem - each guest gets a small thin "hard" bath towel.... see below

5. Washer/Dryer - wash cycle works great, dry cycle is a disaster. I had seen other comments to this effect and figured folks just doid not understand how to use the dry cycle...... nope, the machine is a problem..... 4 hours of drying and the towels were still very wet. We bought new ones at BHV. Owner is aware and is considering purchasing a new machine.

6. Kitchen - great appliances and fully equiped....I do wish that the knives had been sharpened sometime in the last 10 years.....

7. Living room - nice size for 4 people, very comfortable, TV is great!!

8. Internet service - the wireless is impossible, you get thrown off every few seconds. there is a direct wire, so for one user, it's good, but fairly slow... it appears to be a free service and is likely overloaded....many IP address conflicts occured as well.

9. Air Conditioning - we did not use it, but I observed that the only unit is in the living room. Strikes me that cooling the bedrooms would be a challenge to cool and certainly would require that the doors be left open.... given the street noise at night I'm not sure you would want to have the windows open.

Overall a nice apartment. More modern in style than I might like (it could be anywhere - no French feel), but clean and well put together. Might be a bit high in price given the others we havve stayed in, but the locataion does come at a premium.

Note: We did have the opportunity to view the adjacent studio....looked pretty good with a "Murphy" style bed.
