Thank you. British children frequently have disgraceful manners in public, and British parents/minders on public transport are usually even worse. It's not rare for me, in my 60s, to find myself standing up for someone pregnant or disabled while brats are encouraged by their antisocial breeders to stay in their seats.

Yes, in my day children automatically stood for adults disabled or not.
I must say that I rarely have to stand on the Tube.
Also, it tends to be young Afro-Caribbean men who stand for me. I like to think that they have memories of their fierce Jamaican grannies saying, "Show some respect, son and give the old lady your seat!"

The children's groups in the National Gallery are a delight.

I had the Great Shock about a month ago.

For the first time in my life, a young person stood up for me on the Tube.

The discovery you look old's bad enough. But it's the discovery some brats have manners that really threatens the old ticker.

Fortunately - and predictably - the young man was Brazilian. So you can still rely on proper British yobbery. And, as MissP reminds us, those yobs' occasional outburst of spontaneous joy in museums and churches.

Thanks tod, I've added it to my list for our October trip. TYoo bad we'll only be 3 weeks as I have at least 36 places on it already!When I looked at the website I found another that is right around the corner from the apt we are renting on rue Saint-Antoine, Royal Turenne, and they specialize in fish! Si that got addedd also!

Avalon, I have The Royal Turenne on my hotlist of restaurants that open 7/7. So many places will be closed when we get back from Canada in the last week of August so I have a special list of 'larger-type' places that never close - safetynet is in place!
