2 ans 3 * hotels
 

Do most 2 and 3 strat hotels in europe provide towles? I am packing, and would like to eliminate a towel from my packing list.

We normally use 2 star and once in a while 3 star hotels and have never found a bathroom that did not have towels. Washclothes, now that is a different story.....

All the hotels, B&Bs, and guesthouses we've stayed in--1, 2, 3 and no star--have provided towels.

yes towels, and also hairdryers, and basic toiletries.

I've never seen a hotel without towels. Even in my earliest trip to russia (the hotel - although supposedly 4* was an incredible dump) the hotel had towels - although they seemed to be a combination of dish towels and bath mats - nothing like an actual bath towel - and came in an amazing variety of sizes, shapes, colors and designs. (Hostrels are another story - I don't knowif they provide towels.)

But I've never seen a hotel anywhere in europe that had a face cloth, so you might want to take one.

I think a hotel has to provide towels or it would be classified as something else (residence hall or boarding house, etc.). Anyway, I've never been in a hotel or heard of one, even 1*, that did not have towels.

Yes towels are provided. But to get on my "packing light" bandwagon... this is a great example (should for some strange reason towels not be provided) it is 's better to go out and buy one once you're there (a towel that is) than take up room in your bag trying to cover the what-ifs and maybe neededs.

thanks for the tips, and for the tip on packin light, i have 2 carry-ons, a wheeled suitcase, and also a bookbag that also has wheels, i am hoping that i can pass the book bag off as a "personal" item, and not have to check it.

illusion321, how long are you staying in Europe? It still seems like you have a lot of luggage to deal with, and you are taking trains, I recall...
You should try to limit your bags to 1 21" roller and one carryon size (ie. the 'personal' bag). When boarding trains, there is usually a gap and a big step up into the train 'foyer' and you have to schlep down the aisle and store your bags, working around others trying to do the same, then reverse it all when deboarding. You are listing 4 pieces to deal with - it's too much for one person, in my opinion (which I realize wasn't asked for!)

Towels are definitely in, but toilet paper for us ladies--now that's another question. They may supply what they call toilet paper, but it's a good idea to pack the Charmin--or some Kleenex--their idea of "squeezably soft" isn't what some of us are used to...Happy travels!!

hi travel nut, sorry i think i may have not typed my statement very well, (and i am sure you noticed i am a horriable typer) I am only taking 2 bags total, 1 carry on suitcase and 1 bookbag (about 19 inches). I will also have a small day pack, but that will actually be packed within the larger book bag, and only taken out when needed. sorry for the confusion.

The hotels will provide towels, but they might not be fluffy. You can still get the flat linen towels.

Bring a washcloth. Re toilet paper: it is much better than it used to be, but my wife prefers to get the wipes. She brings "Charmin Fresh Mates" and renews as necessary.
