2.5 hours enough time to get baggage and board TGV train in CDG?

Coming from Toronto into CDG landing at 8am, would it be possible to get checked baggage and board the 11am TGV to Nice?

As well, if you book a TGV train ticket ahead of time and miss the train can you exchange it for a ticket on the next train?

Any info would be much appreciated

Yes and no

Yes that is plenty of time if your flight is on time and there are not huge back ups in immigration.

No if something goes wrong

What I am doing in a similar situation is buying the tickets that allow me to change them. They cost more and if I have to change I will have to pay for the "walk up" rate but ....after spending 4 sad hours in CDG last year I decided to go this route.

What day of the week? What month? Makes a big difference sometimes.

I always allow at least 3 hours and have come close to missing a train a few times.

If you buy PREM fares, they are nonexchangeable and nonrefundable. Other fares may be exchangeable for a price.

It will be on May 9th this year

If everything goes right we will be landing at 8:05 at CDG and I believe the TGV to nice is typically 1045/11

It also matters which terminal you arrive at. If you come into Aérogare 1, you'll have to transfer, and at that time of morning that can easily eat up a half hour or more.

May 9th is a Friday and one cannot help but wonder if a lot more visitors might actually arrive on a weekend day. You've received good advice above and here's something else. How important is it for you to take the train from the airport vs. taking one from Paris itself? Yes, I know somebody is going to ask about why go into the city...well, why hang around an airport for hours if you miss your train?

Not for me with that time!! I'm a scaredy cat, and I have waited and waited for baggage, even thinking it wasn't coming. Then a transfer?

With whom are you flying out of YYZ that you get into CDG at 08:00? Not AC...
