2-3 months on Isle of Skye??

I spent a week on Skye several years ago and fell in love with it. Now I want to go back for 2-3 months, probably between March 1 and mid-June. I'll be traveling alone, so only want a one-bedroom self-catering cottage. I can't really afford a hotel or B&B for that long, and anyway would want more space/privacy. I'm 70, interested in history, scenery and shopping for crafts, in good health, & tho not up to strenuous sports, I can walk for miles. I'd rather not rent a car, at least not for more than a few days, so would like to be less than a mile from the main bus route, which as I recall, went almost all the way around the island.--and not too far from a village or town.

Does anyone have any suggestions for finding the right place? I've tried visitScotland.com and visitHighlands.com but for some reason, I get timed out with the first clik of a search for accomodations. (Probably my fault, not theirs) I have not been able to find a booking agency on Skye.
Oh, and do you think I'm crazy to plan that long a stay?????

Hi limelightlady,

Love has reasons unknown to reason, so if you fell in love with Skye, there is no reason to think you are crazy. I've found the following link, thinking that self-catering might be the right formula for a 2 months stay.

Good luck!

I have a lot of directories on my computer at home, and can look up some stuff for you. One agency specialises in Skye.

Can you give any notion of where on the island you want to be, and a weekly budget?

these places may do special rates for longer rentals... or point you in the right direction
