1st trip in the fall
I am planning a trip with my mother to Germany in the fall. It will be my first trip to Germany, previously I had visited Portugal and Sicily. I think we will be flying from NY to Frankfurt. Our main destinstion is the town Doerrenbach on the west border near France. Any advice on where to stay, what to see and the joys/trouble of car rentals and parking. Also, any 'must see' museums/castles. danka.lol

Doerrenbach as you state is a small town just off the German Wine Road. I have not been there specifically, but am well acquainted with the area (Pfalz) and it is delightful! A Google search will give you several hits, though the main city site is only in German. Have a great trip!

POWDERPUFF71: You will probably have better response if you re-post with a better title. Something like "Doerrenbach and western Germany. Need advice"
"1st trip in the fall" does not tell anyone you are asking about Germany let alone a very specific location there. |
The joys of car rental are abundant, especially in Germany.
Generally, I would be car-less in small-town Germany, like I would be car-less in small-town USA. Best wishes, Rex |
thanks everyone.
i will try to re-post. |
Just a bit of airline advice.
I like Singapore Air alot. They fly later in the evening from JFK to Frankfurt. I think you'll find some very positive comments about Singapore Air in prior posts. I think that have been top rated for something like 15 of the last 16 years by Conde Nast magazine. Have fun. Germany is the absolute best!!! |
