Rue Mouffetard on a Sunday morning is an awesome way to experience Paris

http://frenchvillas.com/paris/paris.htm

"Rue Mouffetard
Métro: Monge or Censier Daubenton

At any time of day, this street is worth a stroll for its "old Paris" feel and the fabulous, mostly 17th century buildings that line it. At night, there are more than enough tourists flocking to the many restaurants in the area; however, those seeking a more unusual experience should come here any morning but Monday (though Saturday or Sunday is best) to see one of the city's best, liveliest and most varied food markets. The atmosphere (including, last I was there, a group of musicians whose renditions of old popular French tunes provoked an impromptu group sing-along among shoppers and onlookers!) is difficult to match anywhere else in Paris."

I just wanted to let you know, we just returned from a week and a half in Paris and we stayed at the Relais Bosquet in a superior room on the 4th floor. We loved the hotel and the neighborhood. I'm sure you will have a great time! :)

These reponses are very helpful for me as well.
I'm going for the first time in mid Sept for 5 days (with my gf)then hitting the south of France for another 5.
So much to see, so little time.
I'm going crazy myself trying to plan a fun yet efficient itinerary.
Come back with a review.
I'd love to hear what you think - from one rookie to another.

What about doing one of those all city bus tours? I'm not normally inclined in this way, but seems like for a short stay it could give you an introduction to all the major sites in a brief period of time. Any comments on this as a way to spend a 1/2 day at the start of a trip?
