1st day (out of Shannon) how much driving ?
 

The roads being as they are in Ireland how much driving can be done safely after arrival (7:00 A.M. in this case). 3 hrs way to much? This is flying into Shannon by the way and not just my time estimate looking at a map but reported travel time.

Three hours is my limit after an overnight flight, but it probably depends on how much sleep you get on the plane. In my case, it tends to be very little or no sleep. I'm OK for a 3 hour drive if I stop mid-way for a bite to eat and a chance to move around a bit, but I wouldn't do anything longer.

I agree with three. We drove to Clifden the first day, and with a stop for lunch (we arrived Shannon around noon), t was a good four hours. After three hours, it got real long. Three would be a good stretch, although we're going to do the 4 again in fall. But now we're familiar with it, which will help. But that is the limit!!

Three is fine. I would break it up as many times as possible which shouldn't be too hard in Co Clare. Where are you headed?

I agree you can do three but I'm assuming you will have a "co-pilot." If you're alone I'd be reluctant to go that long. Someone else along is another set of eyes and can keep you talking. I'd be worried if by myself that I might get a little "lulled". Have a wonderful time!!!

My husband has managed to drive all the way to Clifden on two occasions, and it was about an hour too long. You should be perfectly fine with three hours.

I drove from Shannon to Dingle in September. My wife was a good co-pilot. It took 3 1/2 hours, driving on the left which I had done years earler. The average mph will not exceed 35/40 mph.

Take breaks. Brake for sheep. Its doable.
