1st Class Sleeper inflatable seat
 

My travel buddy and I will be using one (well, really two (g)) of these for the first time on trip to France.
Sure hope we won't regret dragging this extra thingy in our carry-on luggage.
Of course we are in coach...

forgive me StLSusan if I am a little naive, but what exactly is this?

Please do report back. I've seen them in travel catalogs (they are kind of like an all-seat pillow, namaka). They've been discussed here in the past but by no one who's actually used one.

Yes, do report back. From what I've heard, they require a seatbelt extender for many people, and are not too useful when the (coach) seat in front of you reclines, which it probably will on a transatlantic flight.

UGH! It pushes your whole body six inches closer to the seat in front of you.

THIS is definitely the stuff of Comedy Central routines..imagine being in the next seat over.

Interesting - there are some reviews posted on http://www.magellans.com/store/In_Fl...owsIF430?Args= but of course they are all positive because the merchant wants to sell the product. One thing that immediately comes to mind - probably best if you are in a window seat and don't have others climbing over you to get out.
I'll be very interested to hear reports from anyone who has actually used this product. Having had back surgery a couple years ago, I find myself constantly trying to wedge a pillow or rolled up blanket behind my back to make the seating less torturous.

A bit more info.
We had access to a short video which show someone actually using this.
1st..you do not sit ON it at all...you drape it uninflated over the back of your seat extending a bit over the headrest and just reaching the seat at bottom.. It looks like a small empty air mattress at this point.
2nd: Then you sit in seat. Put your seat belt on, THEN inflat anywhere from 3-8 puffs into a valve near your head.
Apparently the air goes to your head/neck area and into the lumbar area.
We will see and believe me I will post a report!

Gardyloo - have you flown maxjet? It sounds intriguing, almost too good to be true.

I wish I had known about Maxjet--while limited in ciites and flight dates--this would have saved me a lot of money on my United BC seat.

No, I haven't but am sorely tempted. For the time being, we're able to upgrade on American pretty easily, so that's our airline of choice. However if I had to connect through STN I'd seriously think about it.

I promised to get back to board after my friends had taken my 1st Class sleeper with them on a 20 hr flight NY to Africa...here is report.

"Thanks for loaning them to us -- it made the trip over more comfortable when we really wanted to sleep. An added value was heat reflection - in the summer a light cover between you and it might be nice to keep from feeling sweaty.

The only drawback for me was that the head padding was designed for a head, not headphones. I really value my Bose noise-cancellation headphones, so kept them on and felt like my head was smooshed uncomfortably by the blue thing. Other than that, they were compact, easy to use, and made a noticeable differece in back/bum support. I'm so short (5'4") that I had to use a pillow on the floor for my feet to feel "place" in my reclined position, but it worked out fine."
