Hi All,

My husband and I, along with our then 11 month old, will be going to Paris in October. We are looking to rent an apartment and have narrowed our choices down to the 1st, 6th, or 7th.

They are all equally nice apartments, so we can't really decide that way. We thought we would take it here and see what you suggest.

Why don't you post a link to the apartments and then you'll get feedback on location, apartment amenities, suitability, etc.

I vote for the 6th without knowing anything about the apartment.

Hi MSG, welcome to fodors!

wherever you stay in any of those districts you're likely to have a good time, but as adrienne suggests, it's a little difficult to pass judgement without the links!

that said, each has its own special characteristics - the 1st its proximity to major tourist sites, the 6th its renowned atmosphere [and the luxembourg gardens if you would like to stroll around with your baby in its buggy] the 7th the Eiffel Tower of course. all have great restaurants, cafes, and, depending on exactly where you are, transport.

with a small child in tow, I would definitely want a lift [elevator] or a ground floor position.

Do you need/want a tub for the baby?

Does the 3rd apt have a washer?

Do you know the location of the last apt?

I like the look of the first one best and the location is great but it only has a shower.

I think we would like a tub for ease, but it won't be a requirement. We can manage, I think.

The third does a washer/dryer.

Not specifically and I can't get the site to work now. Hmmm.

I really love the DESIGN apartment through Paris Address. I have rented from them in 2010, not far from there (rue du Cherche-Midi) and loved the area.

The agency is also easy to deal with.

The others you posted are nice too... I would still pick the Design one in the 6th

I like the apartment in the 6th as well. The 6th is centrally located, and is near Luxembourg Gardens which would be great with a child.

MSG, my thoughts on the homeaway.com apartment are that it is too far out of the heart of Paris, and will be a hike to return to the apartment for naps and rests from most tourist sites.

Others will have other thoughts. I would prefer to be in the 6th or parts of the 7th that border the 6th.

Also, it's an 11 story building if I read the listing correctly. It's not going to look like what I'm going to Paris to soak myself in.

Washer dryer a requirement but get instructions unless you have a European brand at home. They work VERY differently. Not badly, differently. They are slow because they are designed for energy efficiency not speed.

The Design apartment is no more central then the one in the 7th, not sure what people are talking about..
Frankly I like the only one with a bath for the kid.. but one drawback is that its on the 11 th floor, I never get anything higher then I can walk up since elevators in older buildings tend to break down often. Walking up 12 floors with a baby, not fun.
Do any of these have a/c .. ? I only noted last one didn't.

I don't think any of them have a/c, which I know will feel weird to us, but it seems quite the norm.

As for the European washer dryer, we spent six weeks in an apartment in Italy and my worst memories come from that washer! Pretty positive I wasn't using it correctly. I will definitely be asking for detailed instructions this time!

Only one poster used the word "central" and never said that the 6th was more centrally located than the 7th or any other arrondissement.

I doubt you will need AC in October. Even if the days are warm the nights will be cool.

The location is great and it looks nice but not as exciting as the Design apartment. I don't think you can go wrong with this one from what I can see.
