I would like to visit some of the historic sites of the 1916-22 War for Independence. Could you point out sOme of these sites to me?

Collins Barricks in Dublin has now been converted to a Museum. It visially still looks like an army barricks and is interesting. Also the GPO on O'connell Street is historic for the easter rising. You may dinf more tour info with Bord Failte (National Tourist Board).

When you get to Dublin, go over to Trinity College front gate and hook up with the walking tour that departs at 11am or 3pm. It is lead by a student and no doubt you will learn a lot about the rising. Our guide went into intricate detail about the various sites and it was very interesting. This lasts about 2 hours and costs as I recall about 10 Euro.

And clearly, you'll want to go to Killmainham Gaol (Jail).<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

Glasnevin Cemetary is the burial site of Michael Collins, Eamon de Valera, Charles Stewart Parnell, Daniel O'Connell, and non-1916 era folks such as Brendan Behan and Christy Brown. It also is very pretty cemetary with some interesting headstones.<BR><BR>I also highly recommend Kilmainham Gaol, take a guided tour there.

You can go to the outside of countless prisons in the North, and see the effects of those 'heros' today--women walking away from their relatives in prison for terrorism. Also, don't forget to visit thousands of graves of the victims of the IRA-Sein Feinn gangsters.

I think the guy who thinks this was deleted was just too lazy to look for it!

X-please don't share your ignorance of history with us. The IRA of today has very little to do with the freedom fighters from early in the last century.
