Hi guys....I don't wanna seem like a pain but I posted this message in the "general interest" board and i thought it would be best to post it in here as well!!!

Hi guys.....ok, so it's only 19 days (18 and a half LOL) until I leave for my trip to Paris!! I am sooooo excited! I have gotten so much help from people on these boards, and I wanna give you all a giant THANK YOU!! Your advice is invaluable!
Anyways, I just wanted to start a thread on things that you can come up with that you think I should do with my 8 days other than the big "paris" things (eiffel tower, museums, people watch etc etc.) Just to give you a better idea of who I am....I am a 23yr old student, and I will have about 100 euro spending money/day (this is for food and FUN!!!!) Lemme know what you guys think! Thanks guys!!!

Or posting yourself along the route of the rollerbladers on a Friday night? At ten p.m. every Friday night at the Place d'Italie thousands que up to skate. They're led by a roller-blade national police unit and followed by an ambulance. I believe the route includes Boulevard Saint Germain, Boulevard Saint Michel, and the Rue de Rivoli. If you want more info I'm sure others here can help out.

A couple of my favorite things in Paris are free: street performers and musicians (there are some absolutely amazing ones, some not so, but they are fun too), Luxembourg Gardens and the Tuileries, sit around and people-watch, the lawn in "front" of the Eiffel Tower.

If I was not claustrophobic, I'd definitely want to do the catacombs tour.

Your enthusiasm is catching and I'm excited, too, although I have a lot to do yet in the next two weeks!! I'll be in Paris in 17 days, and I'm thinking of doing one of the Fat Tire Bike Tours; they sound like fun!

Go to Pere Lachaise Cemetary. Get a map there and find the famous and infamous. Plan a whole day; take a picnic. The sculpture is beautiful. The plantings are a garden.

100e a day is plenty in Paris if your budget is for small breakfast, take out lunch and have a nice sit down dinner. The Latin Qarter has a lot of inexpensive small family owned restaurants but you have to remember, you are in PARIS, there will be a lot of not so great restaurants which caters to tourist. Have fun and explore around.

The Clignancourt flea/antiques market
Laduree (Rue Royale) location for tea/lunch
Cheap tickets to a ballet at the Opera Garnier
Lunch on the Rue Mouffetard (wherever looks good)
Ice cream at Berthillon (behind Notre Dame and over the bridge to the next island)

I know you're only 23, but, if you are at all a sophisticated 23, you'll like these things.

By the way, ignore hopscotch. Some people delight in raining on other people's parades.

Galeries Lafayette has fashion show on Fridays at 3/330pm and Prinetemps on Tuesdays at 10am, both department stores have great views of the city and a cafe on top floors.

Do you like classical music?
Many of the churches have concerts in the evening, especially on weekends.
Robjame just reported that they went on Sunday to St Sulpice, times were 7pm & 830pm.

There is a cow exhibit of some kind
of art going on, type "cow exhibit" in the search topic box and it will come up.

Pompidou Ctr has temporary exhibits for free on first level and the escalator ride up is a grand view of the city.

Hotel de Ville has Willie Roni's photo exhibit of Paris in 1920's -1990's and there is a film about his background and then a slideshow of his photos. There is a second exhibit 'Paris au Cinema' honoring silent films to the Hollywood days.

Type in 'Do it yourself bus tour of Paris' and Robespierre has a fun and inexpensive way to get around the city and see the sights. Bus is only 1.20E.
You can buy a carnat (10 tickets) at a discounted price, covers bus & metro.

Batobus boat has 8 stops along the river and costs 11E 1 day/ 13E 2 day.

If you are up for a tomb experience you can visit the catacombs of Paris. You walk a mile underground and there are millions of skulls and bones stacked up.

Sacre-Coeur: you get a good view from the Dome. I think it cost 5 € to walk the steps to the top.

Versailles is great...but they are doing a lot of maintenance...they are digging in the court year, half of the hall of mirror is covered up etc.

The Eiffel tower: the lines are long...choose the short line and walk up the stairs to the second level and take the lift from there. It will save you some money at least :-)

..The advice given re a coffee/croissant beakfast and take out lunch will help the budget but be sure todine out once a day in a local non tourist resto as this is part of your visit (..consider at times having your bigger meal for luch with a picnic supper)..My major expense when visiting is shoe leather ..walk, walk walk! You will end up seeing the most wonderful places and they will be your own discovery. Make your own memories in Paris..they will be better than those you have borrowed.

Wander aimlessly along the Seine, watch the children @ any of the parks, grab a drink in a cafe & watch the world go by...

I agree with all of you who suggest doing lots of picnics to keep my budget in check, that was my plan....I also think its a great way to enjoy watching Paris go by. Ahhhhhhh LOL, you have no idea how excited I am! Thanks again! Keep em coming!

I would add there's a great Cezanne retrospective at Musée d'Orsay, really worth seeing.
