Yes you read that correctly. Three Norwegians managed to visit 19 European countries in a day.

They visited nothing at all; they just passed through without getting the slightest idea of the countries they crossed.

Good for them.

And that is the point. They did it for fun and with the clear purpose of doing something silly. This is unlike those who seriously want to visit 7 countries in 8 days just so they can say they visited those countries.

neckervd, have you any sense of humor at all?? The point was he record, not sightseeing!

It is almost a parody of those "If this Tuesday it must be Belgium" travelers.

Travel involves a lot more than "seeing" some country. I once flew to Stockholm simply so I could take the train from there all the way to Barcelona.

I had to change several times, of course, and I had been to all the cities I had to change in or stay overnight in several times before I made this trip.

If I had had even more time I would have started above the Arctic Circle in either Sweden or Norway and traveled even further south into Spain than Barcelona. I had thought about going to Sicily instead of Spain at one point.

Was my "travel" experience somehow inferior to other people's? As i sat at the opera in Berlin during one of my overnights the thought that what I was undertaking was somehow substandard never crossed my mind I can assure you.

Fun challenge. I have wracked my brain and I think the most I've ever been in in one day is three.

In our trip to Turkey, we were on three continents in one day.

They planned the trip well and gave lots of free information to others:

Take a carry on
Don't wash your underwear
Your black trousers will be fine
Don't wear sneakers in Europe

There is, of course, a cheat: A country's embassy is considered the sovereign territory of that country. A cab in Washington, DC, or London, or another capital city could allow someone to walk into the embassies of far more countries than 19.
