17 day Italy tour

To be more specific to my previous question(#79), I will be touring, Milan, Venice, Pisa, Florence, Cinque Terre, Siena, San Gimignano, and Rome. Would like some suggestions on low budget hotels/ B&B's, favorite bars, cafes etc..

Too many places, covering too much distance, for 17 days. Rethink, PLEASE.

Agree you are taking on too many places in too short a time. What does #79 mean?

Welcome to "our" word adventurous64. Your "number #79" was temporarily "there" for maybe a minute or two. The way to refer to a previous question is like this:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...2&tid=34467988 (this is your previous question). The easiest way for you to have found it again (and that is where you should have posted this additional information) - - is to click on your ow name (underlined in blue - - or red, once you have clicked on it).

But the dialogue can continue here; no problem.

On first glance, it does soud like too many destinations. But it could work - - something like this:

Day 0 depart
Day 1 arrive Milan; overnight there
Day 2 to CT, night 2 and 3 there
Day 4 stop in Pisa en route to Florence, 5 nights there (4,5,6,7,8)
During those, day trip to Siena once and day trip to San Gimignano
Day 9 Florence to Venice; 3 nights there (9,10,11)
Day 12 Venice to Rome; last 5 nights there (12,13,14,15,16)
Day 17 depart

For some ideas on low budget lodging, start with www.eurocheapo.com - - or for more choices, the unmatched encyclopedic website is www.venere.com

Best wishes,

YOu can do this. It'll be fun! We spent our 14 day honeymoon in Italy and saw all those cities except Rome.

Milan: Hotel Speronari, fax used to confirm, not sure if there's a website. Great location 2 metro stops from the train station. Right by the Duomo!

Venice: www.hotelgalleria.com explore the back alleys, get up by 8 and see the markets. THe Frari church is cool. 8am mass on San Giorgio is something different and interesting.

www.cinqueterre.it We stayed in Edi's room, cheap and clean. Would stay in Vernazza next time, Riomaggiore had a lot of young backpackers (or would stay N in Camogli and train in for the day hike)

www.hoteldali.com in Florence, didn't stay here but it looks nice

www.sangiapartments.com huge, clean , cheap super nice family, you pick up the key to the room at their bakery, yum!

FYI: we did Lake COmo, 2 nights
Venice 2 nights (could have used 3)
FLorence 2 nights
Tuscany 5 nights with rental car-our favorite part of the trip!
5terre 2nights
MIlan 1 night
