14 days Italy (Rome, Capri, Positano, Venice) - input on itinerary
 

They wife and I are planning a trip to Italy in October of this year. Really wanted to do Florence, Tuscany and Lake Como but that will have to be for another trip. Instead we have decided on the following.
Day 1: Depart
Day 2 - 6: Rome, Italy - staying at Hotel Eden using cash & points
Day 6 - 8: Capri, Italy - planning to stay at La Minerva
Day 8 - 11: Positano, Italy - planning to stay at Hotel Poseidon
Day 11 - 13: Venice Italy - ataying at Westin Europa & Regina
Day 14: Return

We are in our 30's very active and enjoy traveling, we respect and appreciate the culture in each country. Do we have enough time in each location and any recomondations are also welcome - any and all input is appreciated,. Thanks!

How are you getting to Venice from Positano. And where are you flying out of?

I would just be concerned that Day 11 would be spent almost completly in transit to Venice, you'd have Day 12 there, and then Day 13 would be spent getting back to Rome for your flight.

If that is the case, I would drop Venice for this trip. It makes more sense to do Northern Italy altogether than add Venice to this trip with your limited time. Add the days to the other areas you already have.

Keep in mind you lose 1/2 day at least when you change locations...

I would also consider spending all your time on the Amalfi Coast in one location for the above reason.

Nice trip and very good hotel choices, but how do you plan to get to venice--that is a long way. I hope you plan to fly from Naples.

Private Car from Positano to Naples then Naples to Venice on EasyJet or Air One. Never flown EasyJet are they reliable?
I understand that the drive from Positano to Naples is about 2 hours, we were planning on leaving Positano around 7:00 am to catch a Noon flight from Naples to Venice? Once we arrive in Venice we would still have 3 whole days

OR should we consider traveling from Positano to Naples night before? Part of me would rather get up early and enjoy my birthday dinner and final night in Positano?

Also wanted to clarify that day 14 we would be flying out of Venice in the afternoon.

That sounds like a good plan!

I've flown easyjet a few times. Just be aware that they are VERY strict about weights of suitcases and charge a small fortune for extra weight. They also dont give you a seat number, its like a bus so you grab a seat once on board. You also have to pay for everything on board, so you may want to bring a drink or some food on board for lunch.

They have always been on time when I've flown them, but of course it depends on the day!

Nice itinerary! I'm envious. How are you getting from Rome to Naples to pick up the ferry to Capri? I recommend hiring a driver for a relaxing ride, although the train is cheaper.

Make sure to ride the chairlift in Anacapri to Mt. Solaro for amazing views. There is a little restaurant at the top but we brought our own food for a picnic. There were lots of little tables to relax and enjoy the view.

We were planning on train to keep costs down where possible...not exactly sure on the difference on price to determine if that is most cost effective or not.

I will note teh chairlift in Anacapri to Mt. Solaro as a "To-Do"

Sounds good! But unless I am missing something, you do not have to depart Positano by private hired car anywhere near 7am for a 12pm flight from Naples.

And you certainly do not need to overnight in Naples in order to catch the fliight.

and you really only have 2 days in Venice - arrive [end of] day 11, leave day 14. but it's probably enough to give you a tantalising taste, or put you off it for life!

We did a similar trip about 5 years ago although we skipped Capri for additional days in Positano.

You'll have a blast.

Good plan. Minerva is a great choice, so is the Poseidon in Positano. Wonderful dining terrace at the Poseidon. Very romantic.
You say your both active and fit then on Capri do a hike or two Pasitiello or The Walk of the Winds. In Positano The Walk of the Gods-one of Italys top hikes. We used Positano Adventure Walks for both Capri and Positano. They are American owned and speaking.

The taxi from Naples to Positano shouldn't take more than 1 1/4 hours and vice-versa. There is the www.metro del mare ferry from Naples to Positano which is only €15.pp and is a beautiful trip from thBay of Naples to Positano.

The taxi should run €90.-110.
