14 days in Italy

My husband & I are flying into Rome and spending three nights. We would like to go to Florence, Siena, Piza,Cinque Terre, Portofino, Santa Margarita, Venice and flying out of Milan.
Any ideas how we could do this in 14 days?

My one suggestion is that you can easily combine trips to Florence and Pisa. They are only an hour apart, and there is frequent, affordable transporation by bus and train between the two. I would choose one to stay in, and daytrip to the other.

Enjoy!

You don't need two stops for Portofino and Santa Margherita; they are minutes apart.

3 nights Rome

4 nights Florence with daytrips to Pisa and Siena/ or 1 night Siena with 3 nights Florence, including daytrip to Pisa

The CT is not my cup of tea, but if you are hikers and are dying to see this place, I guess 1 night would do for me. So
1 night Cinque Terre

2 nights SML, but if it were me, I would skip staying in the CT and spend 3 nights in SML with daytrips to Portofino and other nearby spots, especially San Fruttuoso

3 nights Venice

1 night Milan/if you don't want a night in Milan, you can catch a flight out of Venice to Milan and spend that night in one of your other destinations.

My 2 cents

I agree with TarhellslnNj about the CT. I was just there. We stayed in SML for 4 nights and loved it. We took one day to do the CT, one day for Portofino, one day for Genoa, and that was plenty. Do not stay in the CT; stay in SML.

I love Milan and there is plenty to do in one day. It's a schlep to the airport though. Take a cab to the train station and then take a bus to the airport. Do not try to take your luggage on the metro. It's not worth the hassle.

Sorry about the misspelling of TarheelslnNh. Anyway, I meant that I agree with tuscanlifeedit. Whatever.
