Oh, I just saw your drop off fee -- yes, actually the longer you keep a car, the less the drop off fee is.

ParisAmsterdam - my Canadian cards have a maximum of $65,000CAD - I had checked the value of the 3 series BMW on the French BMW site - base price E28K up to E40K for the Cabriolet so I'm covered...but that's always a good point to raise

Thanks everyone for your opinions....it's looking like a better deal! But I will pursue Kemel for a lease to see if that's slightly less.

Elizabeth - I'd like to find a rate like yours. For 13 days in Italy next May, AutoEurope (.com or .it) shows an automatic Merc B or C for $2573 and up. eks any suggestions?

Centralparkgirl,

Try economycarrentals.com. I found them cheaper than Autoeurope or Kemwel in Italy or Turkey, and there was no deductible.

CPG: It sounds crazy expensive! What class of car is the smallest you can be happy with?

I am wondering is the prices will drop when the date comes closer? I would call them and have a chat about that, and ask them for the best rate they can give you. Sometimes the person on the phone can surmount the web prices.

Give us the dates and the locations..and the car size...I know it is automatic..

Update - I thought I had until yesterday to confirm this rental but apparently not (my error). AutoEurope came back with a VW Golf Automatic for $700 CAD plus drop off so the rental cost is now around $1,000CAD which is even better as far as I'm concerned - I'd rather have the $300 for accommodation than a bigger car.
