Which terminal? There is a hotel and a yotel at T-4 and a hotel at T-5.

But AFAIK sleeping overnight in the airport itself isn't really an option.

Sofitel Heathrow is connected to Terminal 5, and it's a good option if you're flying BA into or out of that terminal.

You can take the shuttle bus to any of the hotels around the airport; we used the Novotel, and it was fine.

There are no facilities for staying overnight airside at Heathrow. All hotels are landside

If you require a visa to enter or transit the UK then there is a very good chance you will be refused boarding at your departure airport or refused entry to the UK if you don't have one.

Whether you need a visa depends not only on your nationalities but also on what other active visas you have in your passport.

So, do they no longer allow all those Indian families to stretch out and sleep ?

No.1 won't help the OP. It closes at 10PM (so only for a nap during the day - not overnight sleeping). Plus it costs £20+ per hour for a single traveler.
