I need advice again. I am having second thoughts about travelling for about 10+ hours on train from Amsterdam to Munich. Can some suggest an interesting midpoint stop between amsterdam and salzburg?

Thanks

There is an overnight train Amsterdam to Munich - a good stopping point about half way would be the Rhine Gorge area just south of Koblenz.

Heidelberg would also make a neat midway overnight stop. One of the few German towns not blitzed in WW2 - a nice university town nestled along the Neckar River.

If interested in the Mercedes-Benz tour - very popular with many auto buffs then Stuttgart would also make a good about half-way stop - the tour being in suburban Stuttgart, accessible by commuter rail lines.
