Got flights to London for 1p from ryanair, taking my 12 year old daughter and her friend for the day, flying back to Glasgow late the same day. Tell us where to go and what to see. Nothing TOO expensive, got a budget of £100 between 3 of us for the day. Go!

Buy a copy of Time Out - London version of The List - You should be able to get it in Glasgow, if not buy on arrival

And a one day travelcard unless you fancy paying £4 per person per trip on he Tube

Flight gets in to Stanstead at 7.45 and I've taken the cost and time of the train into the centre of london into consideration. The girls like clothes, music and eating (like most girls!) Would the London Eye have a long queue or be expensive? It's also a Tuesday before the English schoold break up for summer. Thanks!

London eye shouldn't be that busy, as for costs they are all on the London Eye website

you can book the eye in advance, i think.

remember to plan your sights by area - you don't want to be wasting time criss-crossing the city.

as you are coming into Stanstead, you could get the train into liverpool street, and then do an early tour of the tower of london [opens 9am], then go down to st. pauls on the bus, or get the tube to westminster, and do the eye.

alternatively, get the tube straight to oxford street, and shop til you drop, followed by lunch in china town and a show.

If the Eye is too expensove - then so is teh Tower and most of the other "for pay" sites.

You only have £33 each to cover transport, food and sightseeing. That really isn't much. So stick to the free sites - V&A is good for girls w/ all the costumes and such. Or the British, or Natural History or what ever they are interested in.

On a limited budget I would take the City Bus Tour (they are double decker and get a spot on the top).
They are a lot of fun, you get an overview of the entire city of London. It just takes a few hours. That way the girls can see the various areas of the city and decide where they might like to go back and spend more time (like shopping or lunch).

but the Big Bus or Original tour would eat up nearly 1/2 of their budget (£20 for adults and £10 for kids)

But by taking the Big Bus or other bus tour they get a chance to see London and the sights. They can get off at anything they find interesting and then get back on to see more. And it will be better to sit than to walk all day. With limited funds they will not be able to shop much. Best to buy take out food in Boots or other place with ready-made and spend the money on one admission to whatever seems best and one souvineer

OOhh Camden! Forgot about that place, haven't been since I was a 19 year old hippy with dreadlocks. Thanks, fantastic idea. I remember there being an amazing Mexican restaurant in that area also, the girls love Mexican food and I can get a Margarita....
