Leaving tomorrow, and now realize how much I don't know yet. Yikes! Guess I at least won't be bored on the flight over. I need to answer my wife's question on this side of the pond, though.

We've got an adaptor plug, but do we also need a voltage converter? We'll be charging camera batteries, and my wife is saying something about a clothes steamer. If it makes a difference, we're staying at Hotel du Danube.

An adaptor just makes the flat blade plug fit into the European (usually round) outlets, does nothing to change the voltage. Unless you are certain that the devices you will use are dual voltage (should say something like "Input 110-240v) then you will need a convertor. A convertor changes the voltage from the Euripean standard (usually 220v) to American (110 v). If you plug a 110v appliance into a 220v source it will fry. Get thee to Radio Shack, or pay the rip off prices at the airport.

Look on the nameplate of all of your electrical devices. They should say 1XX - 2XX V. If not you need a convertor.

My lady wife rolled her eyes at the thought of a clothes steamer. She brings a small spray bottle and uses water to remove wrinkles.

You can also just run the hot water in the shower and let your clothes hang in the steam.
