11 Day Italy Itinerary--Greatly appreciate your help!

Hi Everyone!

I would greatly appreciate some feedback on my 11 day Italy itinerary and thank you so much in advance for your time and interest! I am taking my mother and my aunt to Italy to thank them for everything they've done for me over the years. They are both tireless travelers with endless enthusiasm and energy and want to see and do as much as they can in the time we have. I am planning to order "skip-the-line" tickets in advance for as many of the big sightseeing must-sees as I can (i.e. Uffizi gallery, Vatican, etc.) to save us time. With that in mind, what I have planned so far is:

1 Arrive in Venice 9 AM: Nap, gondola ride, relaxed sightseeing in Venice

2 Venice sightseeing

3 Leave for Florence on high speed rail

4. Florence

5 Leave for Rome on high speed rail.

6. Rome

7. Rome

8 Rome

Days 9, 10 and 11: At this point I was planning to go with a 3 day guided tour out of Rome to the Amalfi coast. It includes transportation, a guided tour of Pompeii along the way, day trip to Capri, some meals etc. Does not include hotel, so I was planning on staying in Positano. Doing this as a tour allows me to not worry about the logistics of getting around these areas.

12. Fly out of Rome

Thank you again so much for your valuable feedback!!

WIth 11 days, I would limit my stops to 3 at most. You haven't allocated nearly enough time for Venice, Florence or Rome. I would eliminate the Amalfi Coast for this trip and add a day each to the other destinations. You lose time travelling from city to city. If you absolutely must visit the AC, eliminate Florence for this trip.

It is a good idea, as you have planned, to fly in to Venice and out of Rome.

Put Rome at the end of your trip. Train from Florence to Naples or Salerno and start your Amalfi trip.

Good advice above---end in Rome or fly home from Naples.

I agree with the other posters. It's very hard to enjoy 4 places in 11 days. I cut my 5 stays in 16 days to 4 places, and I think this is still a bit rushed, especially with a group. 1 full day in Florence? If you really want to see this city, that's not enough time.
