11-14 nights. Advice on best places to travel to?

Hi everyone,
Me and my boyfriend are looking to travel anywhere between 11-14 nights to a few places from Cairo, Egypt. We are in our early/mid 20's, love adventure, and are also fascinated by all the European culture. We are willing to fly to several places or take trains. I haven't set my mind on any specific locations yet so I'm completely open to any suggestions. But we aren't looking to go to Greece, London, or Amsterdam because we have been these places before. Where would be a few good places to travel to? What cities would pair well together in a trip (even if we have to fly from place to place)?

Oh and we would be doing so at the end of June!

You probably don’t have high mountains with wildflowers in Egypt, so I suggest alpine hikes as the adventure you’re seeking - perfect for young people in their twenties.

By the end of June the higher elevations are finally snowfree, wildflowers make everything beautiful, the cows have been are are being moved to the high meadows - just gorgeous everywhere.

Look at this website:
http://wanderland.myswitzerland.com/en/wanderland.html (it’s in English);

and take the trouble to look up the places named on this one, and use Google Translate -it is worth the effort since it is only in German but has GREAT suggestions about guided alpine hiking tours:
www.alpinewelten.com/de/gefuehrte-wanderungen/.

They take you from alpine hut to hut, a real mountain adventure but no dangerous climbing, just walking in wonderful surroundings with views that your eyes and your cameras will love.

If you hike in Switzerland, fly into Geneva or Zürich.

You have lots of advice on your other thread. Why two?

How about Italy?

Rome, Florence and Venice would make a sweet 2-week trip - trains are great and cheap. For lots of ideas on where to go by rail check www.budgeteuropetravel.com - their online free European Planning & Rail Guide and also www.ricksteves.com and www.seat61.com.

Or around the end of June is a perfect time for Switzerland- whether or not you want to see edelweiss blooming!

right before the crush of the high summer season.

Organize your trip around the fabulous Jungfrau Region up from Interlaken and stay in a small mountain village like Grindelwald where there will be oodles of folks you age- a labyrinth of mountain trains and thrilling aerial gondolas go off in all directions - hiking trails for all energies and degrees of difficulty and yes to see the Alpine flowers in bloom along them is so so sweet.

Maybe also spend some time in Lucerne, a gorgeous city on a lovely lake- great base for 3 days or so

and one other part of this small country like the Lake Geneva area- Montreux or Vevey being perpetual favorites with Fodorites.

Swiss trains are fantastic - look into a Swiss Pass that is valid not only on trains but lake boats, buses, city transports and gives free entry to 470+ Swiss museums. For lots on Swiss trains check the sites I give above pluds www.swisstravelsystem.com.

Switzerland is very expensive however compared to many countries if that is a factor.
